I build in Claude Code: I design the system, direct the implementation, test it, and run it. I define what I want, give it the context it needs, and keep iterating until it is something I would actually use. It's the same approach I take at work, where I build internal tools, data pipelines, and research tooling that people use in their day-to-day.
How I work
- Set direction, not every implementation detail. I decide what to build and what good looks like; Claude Code works out the how.
- Ship first, learn in flight. I learn the most by getting something working and improving it in the open.
- Review every draft. A lot of my role is pushing for simpler decisions until the product feels right.
- Keep verification manual. AI compresses the research; checking the result against the original source is the part I don't hand off.
- Only claim what I can trace. If I can't point to where a number came from, it doesn't go in the finished thing.
- Gate every deploy. This site can't reach its main branch unless the type check, unit tests, accessibility and smoke suites, and a banned-patterns scan pass, on my machine and again in CI.

This site is an Astro, TypeScript and Tailwind build with a switchable graphical and terminal interface, built in Claude Code. Nothing reaches the main branch, and so Vercel, until a type and schema check, Vitest unit tests, Playwright smoke, runtime-behaviour, reduced-motion and axe accessibility suites, and a banned-patterns scan all pass: a pre-push hook runs them on my machine, and CI runs them again on GitHub with a link check on top.
